It contrasts well against the orange and purple primary colors of this gradient. It also tends to make people ask questions as to why I chose it, rather than leave it black. *impish grin*

A bit more seriously, it's another way to differentiate this fractal from others with similar structure and/or gradient.

Most of all, it's what seemed to work best to my eye. *smile*
